Located in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Rover Pet Products is a family-owned-and-operated business proudly manufacturing quality pet products with a distinct Australian Made difference.

After watching his Spaniel puppy shred a new expensive dog bed that didn’t live up to its price point, Director of Rover Pet Products, Bryan Delforce, recognised the need for high-quality and locally-made products for Aussie pet owners. “We were assured that this dog bed’s high cost meant it was the best we could get, but it was quickly destroyed by our puppy Lulu. We then found out that the bed was made overseas and obviously not made to the standards of quality we expect here in Australia,” Bryan says. “I knew then that we had the need and capability to make a better product ourselves.”

Along with Chief Design Officer Josh, who has over 15 years experience in the textile industry, the pair designed and made a custom high-quality dog bed for Lulu - the original TuffMat! The quality and durability of their design led to requests from friends for beds of their own. They were met with an overwhelmingly positive response and demands for more. Recognising this as a gap in the market they were ready to fill, Bryan and Josh set up a Facebook page and started selling their products at local markets. They later expanded the product range to include pet treats and even personalised dog collars as well. Today Rover Pet Products has a flourishing online store, a showroom connected to their manufacturing facility in Rutherford, and stockists all across Australia!

Another point of difference for Rover Pet Products is their focus on using toxic-free filling for their range of pet beds. As a dog owner himself, Bryan is aware that Aussies want their pets to be safe as well as comfortable. “Many overseas companies use cheap, toxic fillings that can have severely negative long-term effects on the pets that use them. So we are constantly testing our beds for toxicity so owners can have peace of mind.”

“That’s why we decided to license our products with Australian Made. The logo is so easily recognised by consumers and gives them the confidence that what they are buying has genuinely been made here. People see the Australian Made logo and ask us questions about it, which means we get to tell them all the benefits of local manufacturing!”

A 2022 Roy Morgan study found that the famous green and gold kangaroo logo is recognised by 99% of Australians, and 93% are confident that products displaying the logo are actually made or grown in Australia.
