Made in Australia and exported worldwide, D&D Technologies is one of the world’s most trusted manufacturers of gate hardware.

For more than 35 years, the Sydney-based company has designed and manufactured lockable gate latches, hinges and accessories for residential, commercial and industrial applications, while setting the benchmark for pool gate safety around the world.

An innovative idea for safety

The D&D Technologies story began in 1985 as D&D Aluminium Balustrading, a fencing company founded by David Doyle and Neil Dunne, the D&D namesakes!

In 1989, a TV science program about rare-earth magnets inspired David to create a magnetic gate latch that wouldn’t jam, rust or lose its magnetic force. Combining this idea with rust-free engineering polymers and stainless-steel components, he developed the MagnaLatch®.

Today, D&D Technologies produces over 350 gate hardware products, all developed to withstand Australia’s harshest elements and meet strict safety and performance requirements. The majority of the range is proudly designed and made in Australia, including MagnaLatch® and LokkLatch® latches and locks, and TruClose self-closing hinges used in countless homes and communities around the world.

Made in Sydney and used globally

D&D Technologies manufactures its Everstrong™ Polymer products at its facility on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where quality, durability, and reliability are at the heart of every step in the production process. All designed to enhance perimeter security, the products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management certification, with rigorous testing and auditing to ensure they meet strict international standards and deliver long-lasting performance.

D&D products can be found around the globe, and with approximately 170 employees across Australia, the United States and Europe, D&D combines local manufacturing expertise with global reach.

The company’s reputation as a certified Australian Made manufacturer sets it apart from competitors, says D&D Technologies Global Creative Manager Fiona Cottee. “As an Australian manufacturer exporting to more than 50 countries, we’ve found that the Australian Made story resonates strongly with customers and reinforces the quality and reliability of our products,” said Fiona.

“Manufacturing in Australia gives D&D greater control over quality, logistics and innovation. It allows us to maintain the high standards our customers expect, while efficiently supplying both local and international markets.”

Making a difference

D&D Technologies' commitment to safety extends beyond its products and manufacturing standards. The company initiated Check Your Pool Gate Month and, in partnership with Kids Alive, has spent years raising awareness of pool gate safety and drowning prevention.

Together, the initiative has helped educate families on the importance of properly maintained pool barriers, contributing to the ongoing effort to reduce child drownings and create safer homes and communities.

“Our customers trust us with things that matter,” said D&D Technologies CEO Dave Eustice. “Pool safety. Property security. Gates that are working every day, often without regular maintenance. That trust is built on knowing that when we say something meets our standard, we can actually stand behind it.”

Award-winning and Australian Made

D&D Technologies is proud of its Australian heritage, its local team and many decades of manufacturing in Australia. Today, as part of the global ASSA ABLOY Group, D&D combines its local expertise and innovation with the strength and reach of a global leader in access solutions.

“We’re proud to be an Australian manufacturer with a global reputation for quality, innovation and safety,” said Fiona Cottee. “Over the years, we have received multiple Australian design and industry awards recognising our commitment to product innovation and engineering excellence.”

“Being Australian Made is an important part of who we are. It reflects our heritage, our connection to the local community, and our commitment to supporting Australian manufacturing. We know that seeing the Australian Made logo on our products resonates strongly with our customers because it represents quality, trust and local expertise,” said Fiona.

D&D continues to invest in research, development and product improvement to create premium gate hardware that sets industry benchmarks for quality, safety and reliability.

The team works closely with customers, industry professionals, and safety organisations to ensure our products meet real-world needs while maintaining the durability and performance D&D is known for.

It's this commitment to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement that has earned D&D numerous design awards and a reputation as a trusted global leader in gate hardware.
