Celebrating three decades of local manufacturing, Crimsafe boasts an unwavering commitment to innovation, quality , and the production of premium security screens here in Australia.
“A home security system should be strong and effective without looking like a prison.” This belief inspired the founding of Crimsafe on the Gold Coast in 1996 and remains true to this day. At the time when homeowners had to choose between weak fly screens and heavy security bars, Crimsafe introduced a better solution. Combining stainless-steel mesh with industry-leading engineering, the company has delivered strength, style and added value to Australian homes for 30 years.

Today, as an industry leader, Crimsafe continues to develop its security system offerings through testing and product innovation, continually seeking ways to exceed its own standards. Headquartered in Yatala, Queensland, “The Crimpact Zone” is the company’s Research and Design facility where products are tested against real-world threats and impacts.
Crimsafe CEO Jim Sturges explained, “The key to Crimsafe’s success over the past 30 years comes down to innovation and staying true to our purpose of making the world a safer place. From impact and intrusion testing through to heat, storm and fire-related testing, Crimsafe screens are pushed well beyond minimum safety standards.
This hands-on, local approach allows us to continuously refine performance, improve aesthetics and anticipate emerging risks, ensuring Crimsafe remains Australia’s most independently tested security screen and an industry leader in innovation.”
Some of the Crimpact Zone tests involve knife shears, kicking, bats and battering rams. These tests may seem extreme, but they are performed to ensure that families and businesses can feel safe and have peace of mind when Crimsafe is installed. This independent testing rigour has shown the product range exceeds every industry and Australian Standard, providing high quality security for homes and businesses in Australia, New Zealand and around the world.

Crimsafe recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special business event at its headquarters during Australian Made Week. Hosted in partnership with the Business Chamber Queensland (BCQ) and the Australian Made Campaign, the event drew over 200 guests.
Attendees heard from Australian Made Chair Kate Carnell AO, BCQ CEO Heidi Cooper, and Crimsafe CEO Jim Sturgess in a panel discussion moderated by television presenter Shelley Craft.
This event gave guests an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Crimsafe’s manufacturing operations, offering a firsthand view of how its security screens are made. Attendees also had the opportunity to test their strength on the Crimsafe bash panels, showcasing the durability of the products and reinforcing the company’s longstanding commitment to Australian manufacturing.
“Crimsafe is proudly Australian Made because we value supporting local jobs, and it’s a fundamental part of our business that we manufacture here,” said Sturgess. “We’re proud to be a global business founded in Australia.”
“The power of buying Australian Made is remarkable. If every Australian redirected just $20 a week to Australian Made products, it would inject an extra $11 billion into local businesses and create more than 20,000 jobs across the country."

Crimsafe has earned a global reputation for quality, durability and suitability for Australian homes. “Manufacturing locally gives us complete control over quality, strength and customisation,” said Sturgess. “Every screen is made-to-measure and installed by local security experts, meaning better service, faster turnaround and products built specifically for Australian homes.”
“Being Australian Made, we know that Australians value open homes, fresh air and a strong connection to the outdoors, so Crimsafe's products are designed to deliver uncompromising strength without compromising lifestyle or aesthetics. Crimsafe screens attenuate heat, deflect UV, keep insects out and allow airflow - while still providing a formidable physical barrier.”
Over its three decades of business, Crimsafe has also worked to develop screens that are cyclone and fire-resistant, block radiant heat, slow the spread of fire, and is currently undergoing approval for use in certain cyclone regions – demonstrating its dedication to making products for a wide variety of Australian climatic conditions.

A longstanding local manufacturer, the company displays the iconic green and gold kangaroo logo to assure its customers of the many advantages of choosing Australian Made security screens. Jim Sturgess explains that the logo also reflects the local workforce and jobs that are supported when customers choose their products.
“Buying Australian Made means that you’re supporting local jobs. Crimsafe directly and indirectly employs more than 2,000 Australians through a national network of more than 120 Authorised Licensees - trusted local security experts embedded in their communities.”
Sturgess says that Crimsafe’s values today remain consistent from its foundation in 1996. “As Crimsafe celebrates 30 years, our focus remains the same - continuing to innovate, support local communities, and staying true to our purpose: to make the world a safer place.”
