LouiseM studio is a small ceramics practice based in Marrickville, Sydney. Run by designer and maker Louise Martiensen, the studio produces slip-cast tablewares and homewares that are designed and made for everyday use. The studio is driven by a real passion for practical pieces that combine beauty with functionality, and encourage a lasting connection with the work. The aim of the studio is to bring more meaningful objects into your daily routines, knowing that your favourite pieces should be the ones you use every day and not the ones trapped in the cupboard being ‘too nice to use’.

Starting small and building up over time the studio now manages the production and sales of many different ranges of wares in porcelain including cups, bowls, plates, serving-pieces, plant pots and vases, as well as commissioned works for individuals and business. LouiseM studio has been operating since 2011. All of our pieces are made utilising the slip-casting technique from a beautiful porcelain which is then either carved, pressed, coloured or glazed to make unique pieces. Slip-casting is an excellent method for creating multiples of the same size, but our handmade touches throughout the production process mean that each piece is unique, and marks of the maker are always present. Louise works there full time, joined part-time by production assistant Marcy.
