French Consul linen homewares are inspired by the classic French farmer’s ‘grain sack’ stripe. We’re dedicated to ensuring the family tradition of the striped linen grain sack once utilised by grain farmers throughout Europe to identify their family’s grain at market – and now highly sought-after by homewares and textile lovers – lives on.
Our original French Consul designs and original linen fabric are made from linen grown in France and woven in one of the last surviving family-run linen mills in Ireland. All our products are handsewn by Australian and Irish artisans. We are so proud to be an Australian owned small business.
Owner and creative director, Karen Miles, is a stylist, author, and former award-winning magazine editor. Her work is infused by her love for all things French, a desire to support artisan-made, and her family heritage – a creative childhood, her dad’s British heritage from Lincolnshire, and her nan, Edna, who ran her own store fashioning gowns for the ladies of Strathfield in NSW in a time when very few women owned a business.
