Each piece is hand crafted to showcase the natural elegance and durability of this 30-year-old iconic
Australian river red gum timber (circa 1990–2007).
Grown
River red gum typically grows along the banks of rivers and creeks, where it’s roots can access moisture from
the soil. The name “river red gum” reflects its habitat preference.
Heritage
The Australian heritage of river red gum (Eucalptus camaldulensis) encompasses its Indigenous connections,
ecological significance, historical importance, and cultural symbolism. As one of Australia’s most iconic tree
species, the river red gum continues to play a vital role in shaping the country’s landscapes, communities, and
cultural identity.
Environmental sustainability
The timber was sustainably harvested between 1990-2007 from licenses received from Mid-Murray Forest
Management Area, Echuca Forest Management Area, and the Barmah State Forest.
Natural beauty and unique character
The grain patterns and tones of river red gum are truly captivating – featuring a prominent and intricate grain
pattern, characterised by swirls, knots and occasional gum vein. These natural variations add depth and
character to each piece.
River red gum exhibits a rich and warm colour palette, ranging from deep reds and burgundies to lighter
shades of pink and brown. This variation adds to the beauty and authenticity of our river red gum furniture,
ensuring each piece possesses its own distinct personality.
Durability
The durability of river red gum furniture is one of its standout qualities – it is known for exceptional strength
and resilience. It’s a hardwood with minimal shrinkage and swelling properties, which maintains structural
integrity over time.
Finish
Our UV finish allows the natural beauty of the timber to shine through while still providing excellent protection
and durability – strong, flexible, water resistant and protection from light.
Investing in river red gum furniture isn’t just about acquiring beautiful and durable pieces; it’s about embracing
a legacy of sustainability, craftmanship, and timeless beauty. With its rich history rooted in Australian heritage
and its enduring qualities that stand the test of time, river red gum furniture offers more than just functionality –
it’s a statement of commitment to environmental stewardship and appreciation to the natural environment.
