What are they?
Ecologs are cylindrical logs made from compressed sawdust, they are 80mm in diameter and range in short lengths.
What are they made from?
Our ecologs are made from 100% Australian hardwood sawdust that is derived from Australian Ash and Oak timbers, by collecting sawdust from the dust extractors hooked up to various machines throughout the factory.
How are they made?
We feed the sawdust into our machine, allowing substantial hydraulic pressure to release the natural lignin found naturally in the timber to bind the sawdust together.
What are the advantages over traditional firewood?
The timber in which we manufacture our ecologs from has a moisture level ranging between 7-11%. This moisture level is significantly drier than the split firewood that’s traditionally used for heating (20-30%).
Having a product made from a lower moisture level allows for a hotter, cleaner, and longer burn with very little to no smoke, ash or build up. In conjunction with pieces of other timber (i.e., Red Gum) our ecologs ensure heat is maintained and the longevity of the fire is extended without the need of additional products. They are not just fire starters and can be used alone.
