As licensees know, the Australian Made logo is Australia’s most trusted, recognised and widely used country of origin symbol. Backed by a rigorous third-party accreditation system, the logo provides assurance that products carrying it are genuinely Australian.
To maintain this trust and safeguard the integrity of the green-and-gold kangaroo, the Australian Made Campaign Limited (AMCL) undertakes a range of compliance activities each year, including random audits of licensees.
These audits are conducted by independent auditors in accordance with AMCL’s Code of Practice. If your business is randomly selected, participation in the audit program is a requirement of holding an Australian Made licence.
Audits are conducted on-site and require the auditor to visit your offices and (where appropriate) your manufacturing premises. To facilitate the audit process, the auditor will request the following information:
- Details of manufacturing and production processes, including materials or components used
- Invoices for materials and components purchased
- Examples of how the Australian Made logo is used - on products, packaging, websites and marketing materials
- Annual turnover figures for licensed products
All information provided during an audit is strictly confidential. Auditors are bound by confidentiality agreements and are not permitted to disclose any information to unauthorised parties.
Audits are carried out throughout the year and scheduled with licensees several weeks in advance. Licensees are encouraged to keep an eye out for notifications sent to their company’s authorised representative.
These compliance measures help preserve the integrity and credibility of the Australian Made logo. To learn more about the audit process, download the Compliance Audits FAQ guide.
