Known for their craftsmanship, Dollar Curtains + Blinds (DC+B) has a reputation for being one of Australia’s leading window covering manufacturers. Generations of families have trusted them to produce quality, custom-made indoor and outdoor window coverings at value-for-money prices.
DC+B Marketing Manager, Danielle Crosby, said it’s this reputation that has ensured DC+B’s longevity and manufacturing success.
“We are very proud of our long-standing heritage as an Australian owned company that has been manufacturing locally for well over 50 years. As the saying goes, we stick to our knitting, which is window coverings—and we have over 50 years of experience and expertise to do it right. We like to think, and do business differently. We ignore gimmicks and distractions and stay focused on the simple things that matter the most – our customer,” Ms Crosby said.
“We know that window coverings for a new or existing home are an investment purchase, and therefore our customers need to seek out an expert in their field to advise on the design, colour and most appropriate solution for their windows. DC+B is that expert.
Designing and manufacturing in Australia allows our production team to maintain a high level of quality control, which ensures DC+B’s products stand the test of time. We closely inspect every product that goes through our own workrooms to ensure it is of the highest standard. Market-leading materials, manufacturing processes and quality control systems are just as important as an excellent design.”
Australian owned and family operated, Dollar Curtains + Blinds is a passionate supporter of Australia’s manufacturing industry. Since its establishment in 1967, they have been manufacturing all of their curtains, blinds and awnings locally at two large manufacturing sites located in Kilsyth, Victoria.
“Making a DC+B product requires time, materials, tools, talent, emotion, intelligence and skilful hands. We focus on what matters to our customers – a quality handcrafted product. It’s in our design DNA. Behind even the smallest details, there is a dedicated person guided by pride in a job well done,” said Ms Crosby.
“With locally-manufactured products you can be sure of a much more ‘hands-on’ approach, resulting in high quality, more variety and better service - all vital advantages given the significant investment entailed in choosing your window coverings. Every product manufactured by DC+B goes through rigorous quality control. From fabric inspections and quality stations, throughout the production line to a final quality control station where every product is hoisted and visually inspected by our controllers to give the final go-ahead.”
With 33 stores across Australia, DC+B’s design teams can give every customer a personalised experience. Ms Crosby explained its extensive range of fabric samples, curated choice of products and in-store displays are all there to assist customers and confidently choose the best option for their home.
“Our success is in our network of showrooms. We can offer our customers an expert design service through a one-on-one consultation in the largest network of window covering stores in Australia. Our in-home free design, measure + quote service is also a vital part of our service. We do everything in-house—designing, measuring, manufacturing and installing our range of indoor and outdoor window coverings.”
DC+B also believe strongly in giving back to the community. They have been a loyal supporter of Rotary and Rotary International for more than ten years, and have just initiated a new partnership with One Tree Planted.
“We want to make a positive impact on people’s lives. Working closely with the Rotary Donations In Kind program, DC+B make many on-going fabric donations, which have been distributed to people in need, including to East Timor and North Cambodia. The fabrics are transformed into needed items, including clothing, rice carry bags and sanitary products, which remain in high demand in many countries and can significantly change the lives of many people.
We have also launched a new partnership with One Tree Planted to promote sustainability through reforestation. What better way to give back than giving Australia more trees? We have pledged on-going donations to One Tree Planted’s reforestation project within Australia. Our contributions are helping to plant thousands of trees across Australia to recover forests affected by the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires and restore native habitats vital for wildlife.”
A proud licensee of the Australian Made Campaign, DC+B believe the Australian Made logo is not only a celebration of Australian craftsmanship; it is a commitment to the future of Australia and the wellbeing of fellow Australians.
“2020 may be the hardest thing our generation has ever encountered, and to succeed will require the best of us – from all of us. The need to care for and support each other has never been greater, which is why we feel so strongly about being Australian Made and Australian Owned. We are helping other Australian families to rebuild by employing and manufacturing locally. The Australian Made logo helps us convey this commitment to our customers,” said Ms Crosby.
“There are many benefits of Australian businesses and consumers supporting local manufacturing and buying Australian made products. When you buy Australian products and support local businesses, you are also contributing to the economic development of Australia, creating jobs and supporting your local community.”
