Every home has different needs, which is why choosing the right window shading for your home can make a real difference. Australians know that the right blinds, curtains, shutters and awnings can be a way to enhance style, improve comfort, privacy and energy efficiency.

Window Shading Association of Australia (WSAA) connects everyday Australians with trusted, qualified professionals who specialise in window furnishing tailored specifically for Australian homes. Bringing together manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and installers, WSAA elevates industry standards and celebrates the unmatched value of Australian-made window shading products.

WSAA, as an organisation, champions safety, quality standards, and collaboration to deliver the best possible outcomes for Australians. From family-owned manufacturing businesses perfecting custom blinds to specialist suppliers delivering precision shutters, WSAA connects the entire supply chain for better results.

One of WSAA’s core roles is to help Australian window shading businesses feel supported and amplify their popularity among consumers.

WSAA CEO, Wesley Fawaz, explained, “Many of our members proudly manufacture locally. Unlike generic imports, local manufacturers understand Australia’s unique climate and conditions. From Brisbane’s humidity and Perth’s solar glare to Melbourne’s mood swings and Darwin’s tropical downpours, local knowledge means better energy efficiency, superior durability and a perfect fit for our diverse homes.”

WSAA knows that for homeowners, education is key. Quality window shading goes beyond home aesthetics. It can be a smart investment that has the potential to reduce energy bills by controlling heat, reducing glare, and improving comfort in Australia’s diverse climates.

By providing resources, events, programs and networking opportunities that encourage collaboration, WSAA promotes best-practice solutions and knowledge sharing across the industry to ensure Aussie homes stay efficient and comfortable no matter the season.

To help homeowners understand the impact of quality window shading in their homes, WSAA developed the Window Covering Energy Rating (WincovER) simulator. This free, user-friendly tool makes energy performance easy to understand. Available through WSAA member retailers, homeowners can ask their retailer to run a simulation based on their postcode, home type (brick or weatherboard), building age, glazing details and orientation. The tool compares shading options to identify the best solution for each individual home.

“This project has been a long time in the making and represents a significant investment from our members. We’re excited to see WincovER launch and the benefits it will deliver – not only for our members, but most importantly for everyday Australians looking to choose energy-efficient window shading solutions for their homes,” says Wesley Fawaz.

For WSAA, joining Australian Made Campaign as an Industry Partner was a natural step. Founded in 1947 as the Blind Manufacturers Association of Australia, WSAA has always championed local manufacturers through rigorous industry standards, safety guidelines, and shared local expertise to deliver the best results for Aussie homes.

As an Australian Made Industry Partner, WSAA amplifies its mission to celebrate and promote genuine Australian-made window shading products. This partnership supports local jobs, specialised skills and investment in local manufacturing, while making it easier for homeowners across Australia to find shading solutions built for Australia’s unique conditions and climate.

To Wesley Fawaz, the Australian Made logo promises trust, authenticity and pride in local craftsmanship.

“The Australian Made logo gives consumers confidence that the products they choose are designed for Australian homes and conditions while supporting Australian industry”.

“Some of our members have been designing and producing window shading products locally for decades. And we’re proud to say that our members, the designers, manufacturers, installers and small businesses across the country – all come together to contribute to producing high-quality window shading locally”.
