Date & Walnut Loaf

This deliciously simple loaf is perfect for winter afternoon entertaining. It's filled with chopped dates and walnuts, giving it a mildly sweet taste and crunchy texture. Thanks to the team at My Favourite Apron Co!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of self-raising flour
  • ½ cup of castor sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 40gms butter – room temperature
  • 1 cup of chopped dates
  • ½ cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup of milk

Method

  1. Get ready to bake with a fun apron from My Favourite Apron Co.
  2. Set oven to 180C/160C fan-forced
  3. Grease and line loaf pan with baking paper
  4. Cream butter and sugar with hand beater
  5. Add egg, then mix in dates and walnuts
  6. Stir in flour and salt
  7. Combine well
  8. Place in loaf pan
  9. Bake for 40 minutes
  10. Remove from oven once lightly browned and allow to cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan to further cool on rack.
  11. Best served warm with butter or your spread of choice!
