There's nothing quite like the smell of a freshly made loaf of bread! Try out this Aussie Made Recipe, thanks to the team at Great Wrap!
Method
- In a large bowl, combine the plain flour, salt and yeast.
- Add the water to the bowl and stir with a fork until combined.
- Cover the bowl with Great Wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 8-12 hours to rise.
- Then, fold the risen dough onto itself in its original bowl 5-6 times until smooth.
- Place the whole wheat flour in another large bowl.
- Transfer the dough to this bowl, and coat its surface with flour. Cover with Great Wrap and let it rise again for 45 minutes until doubled in volume.
- Preheat the oven to 225°C for about 30 minutes. It’s best to use a a 3-liter Dutch oven or oven-proof pot and its lid inside.
- Place the floured bread dough in the center of the hot pot.
- With the lid on, bake the bread for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 30 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
- Once baked, either transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool or leave it in the pot to cool.
