Australian Made Campaign Limited (AMCL) is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of all personal information collected from our licensees, members, suppliers and others. In accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (which includes the Australian Privacy Principles), this Privacy Policy outlines what personal information we collect from you, and how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information.

We may amend this policy from time to time, and the most current version will be published on this website, so please review this policy regularly. We will post a notification on our website when we make material changes to this policy.

1. What is personal information?

Personal information is any information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

2. What personal information do we collect, and how do we collect it?

We will usually collect personal information directly from you. How we collect personal information, and what personal information we collect and hold about you, will depend on the nature of your interaction with us. For example:

  • When you lodge an application or register with AMCL to use the Australian Made/Australian Grown logo (AMAG Logo), we will ask you to provide personal information (such as your name, phone number, postal and street addresses, e-mail address, and, if you are applying on behalf of a business, what position you hold in that business) to enable us to grant you or the business a licence to use the AMAG Logo.
  • When you communicate or interact with us (for example, by telephone, email or through our website), we may ask for your name and contact details, and, if you call us, we may also monitor or record your call for staff training and quality maintenance purposes, or to verify discussions that take place.
  • When you become a member of the Aussie Made Club, you will be asked to provide your name and email address.
  • If you provide feedback to us (for example, through our website or by email), you will be asked to provide us with your name and contact details.
  • If you sign up for one of our mailing lists, you will be asked to provide us with your name and contact details.
  • If you enter one of our competitions, you will be asked to provide us with your name and contact details.
  • If you provide us with goods or services, or otherwise do business with us, you will be asked to provide personal information (such as your name, phone number, postal and street addresses, e-mail address, and, if you are part of a business, what position you hold in that business).

The personal information we collect includes, but is not limited to, your name, your contact details (such as your phone number, email address, postal and street addresses), your requirements, your interactions with us, your feedback (including by way of survey responses) and comments, and relevant company and business information.

You do not have to provide your personal information to us if you do not wish to, but if you do not provide all the information we request, we may not be able to provide the products, services or information you requested.

We also use cookies when you visit our website which collect certain information (please see the next section below for details).

3. Australian Made Website cookies and third-party websites

Like most websites, there is certain information we automatically track when you use our website, including the URL that you came from, the browser you are using and your IP address. This data is utilised to improve the services of AMCL and does not include any personally identifying information. We will not retain any such information unless you submit that information for membership registration or other transactional purposes. If you would like to block these cookies, you can manually set your browser on your computer or device to do so.

This policy does not apply to other websites that you access by using a link from our website. The content and privacy policies of other websites are the responsibility of their owners.

4. How we use your personal information

We use the personal information we collect for the purposes for which it is collected and for other related purposes, and as permitted or required by law. Our general purposes may include:

  • to assess your requirements;
  • to communicate with you and respond to your enquiries or requests for assistance from us;
  • to enable the relevant service, assistance, or information to be provided to you;
  • to enable us to properly administer and improve the AMAG Logo scheme;
  • to send you newsletters, updates and other useful information;
  • for research, staff training, policy development, and planning;
  • to send marketing materials to you;
  • to administer any competition you have entered.

We may also use or disclose personal information if required to do so by law, court order, or as requested by a governmental or law enforcement authority, or in the good faith belief that use or disclosure is otherwise necessary or advisable. Such situations may include: to perform, maintain or enforce contracts with our licensees or suppliers; to protect the rights or properties of AMCL, our business affiliates, our licensees, or others; or when we have reason to believe that disclosing the information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing, or who may be threatening to cause, interference with or damage to the AMAG Logo scheme or our rights or properties, whether intentionally or otherwise; or when anyone else could be harmed by such activities.

5. Who will we disclose your personal information to?

Generally, we will obtain consent before we disclose any personal information other than as specified in this policy. Such consent may be given expressly, or it may be implied by conduct.

Your personal information may be disclosed to:

  • our independent contractors and other third parties to enable us to administer the AMAG Logo scheme and otherwise provide our products and services;
  • our third-party service providers to permit them to provide services to us, such as hosting services, provision of infrastructure, payment gateways and platforms, IT services, data analysis, email delivery services, customer services and other similar services (including conducting surveys and operating competitions for us);
  • our external advisers and suppliers who have been engaged to provide us with legal, administrative, financial, insurance, research, marketing, analytics or other services and goods;
  • other parties as permitted or required by law or as we believe to be appropriate: (1) to enforce our agreement with you, where applicable; (2) to protect our operations and the reputation and integrity of AMAG Logo scheme; (3) to protect our rights, confidentiality, reputation or property and/or, you or others; (4) to prevent fraud or cyber-crime; (5) to permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; and (6) in connection with a merger or transfer involving all or part of the AMAG Logo operations; and
  • any other person authorised, implicitly or expressly, when the personal information is provided to or collected by us.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for other marketing purposes.

6. Direct marketing and opting out

AMCL works hard to provide our members and licensees with the best possible service at all times. From time to time, we will send you newsletters, updates and other useful information. We hope that you will find these items informative and useful. We may also send you marketing materials from time to time.

However, should you prefer not to receive the marketing communications in the future, you will have the ability to unsubscribe from the mail database by following the Unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email.

7. Our commitment to data security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure, and against other misuse. AMCL does not store credit card details.

When no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy, delete or permanently de-identify personal information in a secure manner.

8. Access to your personal information
