Osteoflam Plus

Knee pains are almost consistent with advancing age. It is a degenerative disease resulting from wear and tear of cartilage – a cushioning tissue which prevents friction between the thigh and shin bones.
There are two major goals in osteoarthritis, prevention of disease progression and pain relief. Osteoflam Plus is formulated to target both the goals of osteoarthritis management – glucosamine facilitating cartilage repair and New Zealand sourced Green Lipped Mussel providing pain relief in view of its unique anti-inflammatory properties.
Osetoflam Plus has been formulated with Glucosamine and Green Lipped Mussel extract to relieve the pain and symptoms associated with arthritis. Studies have indicated that individuals who take Glucosamine hydrochloride saw a reduction in the loss of cartilage volume. Green Lipped Mussel is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and by reducing production of leukotrienes (inflammatory molecules) and prostaglandins, people have found the same anti-inflammatory effects as fish oil. By combining Green Lipped Muscle extract people with osteoarthritis have found a reduction in pain, stiffness and overall improved quality of life.
Green-lipped mussel is a nutritional supplement taken from a type of mussel native to New Zealand, which contains Omega 3 fatty acids containing anti-inflammatory and joint-protecting properties. Evidence suggests that it might be of some use to people with osteoarthritis when taken along with paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Results of both human and animal studies have been mixed. A 2006 Clinical Rheumatology review found benefit for both osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis in two of five clinical trials. A 2008 review of trials for OA found benefit when green-lipped mussels were added to conventional therapies. Unlike NSAIDs, which can harm the stomach, green-lipped mussel extract may help heal ulcers.
In an addition a UK study involving 30-80 participants showed significant benefits with Green Lipped Muscle extract versus placebo. Green-lipped mussel was shown to be more effective than a placebo in reducing pain, improving function and refining overall quality of life when taken along with usual painkillers (for example paracetamol) and NSAIDs. Both forms were effective, with 73% of the lipid group and 87% of the powder group showing significant improvement.
