While this time of year is usually a time of excitement and festivities, for some families it can be more complicated. Many Australians suffering from serious illnesses need to stay in hospital for long periods of time, away from the comforts of home.
In an inspiring show of support, eight local businesses came together with the Australian Made Campaign (AMCL) to gift some joy to families going through tough times.
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital programs for families with seriously ill children. The charity helps families feel welcome and cared for while they are going through stressful medical procedures and challenging times.
For the fourth year in a row, AMCL and its licensees have put together 50 Australian Made care packs for families staying at Ronald McDonald House North Fitzroy at Casa Elda Vaccari. Each Pack contains products Australian Made products generously donated by the following licensees:
- Cedel: Toothpaste
- De Lorenzo: Shampoo & Conditioner
- Calma Koala: Calming Sensory Toy
- Ocean Yuen Toys: Stuffed Koala
- Apriwraps: Beeswax Wraps
- Lemon Myrtle Fragrances Australia: Hand + Surface Sanitiser & Body + Hand Wash
- Ki & Co Australia: Colouring Book
- Cancer Council: Moisturising Sunscreen
Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro said AMCL is proud to be a continual supporter of RMHC since adopting a room in 2020.
“We are very thankful for the opportunity to support this great charity and hope that these boxes bring some happiness and levity to families that are doing it tough. It’s very encouraging to see the generous Australian Made businesses who have got involved in this great initiative and donated their locally-made products. Supporting local goes both ways, and Australian Made businesses continue to lead by example.”
