This month Australian actors, directors, writers, producers and crew joined together to support the national re-launch of Australian Made Industry Partner, Screen Producers Australia’s (SPA) ‘Make it Australian’ campaign.
‘Make it Australian’ calls on streaming platforms to have a minimum investment level of Australian content and improve their support for Australian children’s, drama and documentary content.
SPA CEO, Matthew Deaner
Matthew Deaner, CEO of SPA, said if streaming platforms committed a 20% minimum spend of their local revenue on new Australian content, it would create up to 10,000 ongoing new local jobs.
SPA supports the interests of large and small screen businesses in their production of Australian feature films, television programs, interactive content and games across all genres and formats.
Australian Actress, Director and Writer, Leah Purcell with Minister for the Arts, the Hon Tony Burke MP
The campaign kicked off at the Sydney Film Festival Hub in Sydney Town Hall, with the new Minister for the Arts, the Hon Tony Burke MP and Minister for Communications, and the Hon Michelle Rowland MP showing their support.
