GIVING our economy a much-needed boost is as easy as saying ‘G’day’ to one extra Australian-made product a week says Aussie entrepreneur, model and mum, Elyse Knowles.
Knowles has joined forces with the Australian Made Campaign Ltd (Australian Made) to launch the very first Australian Made Week!
Kicking off on May 24, Australian Made and Knowles are urging shoppers to actively focus their buying activities on genuine Aussie products both during and after Australian Made Week, even if it means swapping just one product a week.
According to Roy Morgan Research, if every household spent an additional $10 a week on Australian Made products, it would inject an extra $5 billion into the economy each year and create up to 11,000 new jobs.
After a challenging year for many Australian businesses, the initiative aims to celebrate and support our local heroes, the makers and growers around the country. When you buy Australian Made products, you create jobs, now and into the future, and support thousands of Australians throughout the supply chain.
You can get involved in Australian Made Week by:
- Looking for and purchasing products with the green and gold Australian Made, Australian Grown logo.
- Spreading the word about Australian Made Week! Share a picture of your Aussie Made purchases on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and use the hashtags #AustralianMade and #AustralianMadeWeek. Or download dedicated Australian Made Week content here. Australian Made would love to share your posts, so remember to tag the Australian Made Campaign @australianmadecampaign and the maker too.
- Considering the flow-on effects of your purchasing decisions. When you buy Australian Made and Australian Grown products, you are helping to support local businesses and communities across Australia.
- Encouraging your friends and family to get involved in Australian Made Week and spreading the word on the importance of buying Aussie!
So, look for the Australian Made logo - Australia’s most trusted, recognised and widely used country of origin symbol. Consumers can learn more about Australian Made Week and find genuine Aussie products at www.australianmadeweek.com.au.
