The Oral Health Professionals Association (OHPA) has linked up with the Australian Made logo as a proud ‘Campaign Associate’. It has done this as part of a strategy to increase awareness about the benefits of buying locally manufactured dental prosthesis (like dentures, crowns, bridges and implants).

“Most dental patients don’t realise that much of the dental prosthesis manufacturing now occurs offshore, and that there is a choice to be made about where their dental prosthesis come from,” OHPA Chief Executive, Chantelle Adams, said.

“As an Australian Made Campaign Associate, OHPA supports technicians and prosthetists making custom-made dental prosthesis in Australia with high quality raw materials that are registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration and supplying dentists in Australia.”

Australian Made Campaign Chief Executive, Ian Harrison, welcomed OHPA on board; commending the organisation for its role in educating practitioners and patients about buying local across all product categories.

“We choose to buy locally manufactured food products because we know that what we are putting into our bodies has been grown and processed to high quality, health and safety standards; and we should insist on locally manufactured dental prosthesis for those same reasons,” Mr Harrison said.

As an Australian Made Campaign Associate, OHPA promotes the Australian Made logo to its stakeholders and members as a marketing tool to help differentiate and provide quality assurance.

“Nearly all Australians (98%) recognise the green-and-gold Australian Made logo, and the majority (88%) trust it to identify genuine Australian products, so it can provide both practitioners and patients with a credible point of reference when selecting a supplier,” Mr Harrison said.

Ms Adams said that part of OHPA’s strategy was also to encourage practitioners to reinvest back into their own industry.

“We believe in maintaining local skills and capabilities in Australia,” Ms Adams said.
